FamilySearch Internet Genealogy Service (www.familysearch.org)

Launched in May 1999, www.FamilySearch.org has already surpassed 1.5 billion hits to become the world's most popular Internet site. The facility, sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and built by Fretwell-Downing, enables on-line access to the Family History Library Catalog™, the world's largest genealogical repository which is based in Salt Lake City, Utah. FamilySearch.org has recently added 240 million new names to its genealogy database - enabling users to access more than 640 million total entries.

To go to the ‘Family History Library Catalog™’ built by Fretwell-Downing, click the ‘Custom Search’ tab on the FamilySearch home page, then click on the ‘Family History Library Catalog™’ option.
